About Radio Quintanares
Radio Quintanares is a cultural and communication initiative integrated into the institutional programming of Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana (CCMQ), an institution affiliated with the Secretariat of Culture of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Conceived by Dirney Silver, it is developed through an institutional partnership with CCMQ and works to promote and disseminate culture, information, citizenship and inclusion.
Broadcast online, Radio Quintanares aims to expand access to culture, promote cultural accessibility for people with disabilities and raise awareness of social issues related to women, the Black population, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQIA+ people and other groups representing Brazil’s diversity.
Broadcast in Portuguese, Spanish and English, its programming is guided by the principles of art, citizenship, diversity and human rights. It features content related to music, theatre, dance, literature, visual arts, film, memory and cultural heritage, presented in different formats, including interviews, debates, lectures, concerts, literary readings, poetry recitals, short radio features and radio dramas, with particular attention to cultural accessibility and social inclusion.
On the air since May 20, 2021, Radio Quintanares is artistically and editorially directed by its founder, Dirney Silver — a cultural producer, journalist, musician and poet, a public servant working in the cultural sector of Rio Grande do Sul and a person with a visual disability.
The station is included in the activity plans of Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana and contributes to the communication and dissemination of its cultural programming. Its content is produced with the collaboration of communicators, artists, producers and cultural support initiatives, bringing together different voices, experiences and forms of expression.
In addition to the Radio Quintanares website — www.radioquintanares.art.br —, its programming can also be heard on the fourth floor of Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, near the Natho Henn Public Record Library.
